This quality Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Spinning Fob is adorned with Carnelian Agate and Bloodstone Agate, fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1890-1891.
A fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. A spinner or swivel fob has two or more plaques which can be turned or swivelled within a moveable bracket. This allows the wearer a choice as to which face is displayed.
The spinner features Carnelian Agate and Bloodstone Agate, both in perfect condition. All stones have a smoothly polished surface and exhibit wonderful natural colours.
This would make a great pendant or a superb addition to any collection.
