This stunning Antique Victorian Butterfly Brooch is adorned with a many Natural iridescent Opals, dating to circa.1900. The wings are decorated with two Red Paste stones and further scattered with Seed Pearls, all modelled in Silver gilt in Gold.

Butterfly or insect jewellery is highly collectable and was a symbol of good luck to the wearer during the Victorian Eras.

The Natural Opals are amazing quality, full of fire and life. Opal is considered the birthstone for October, and is of thought of as a stone of luck and communication.

The brooch fastening works on the back as a hinge, allowing the butterfly to be squeezed together and pinch your garment securely. The safety chain also adds extra security.
