Antique Georgian Flat Cut Garnet 9ct 9K Yellow Gold Brooch Pin | Mourning Memorial | Circa. 1820

This stunning Antique Georgian flat cut Garnet mourning pin dates to circa. 1820 modelled in 9ct Yellow Gold.

The beautiful brooch features Natural flat cut foil back Garnets which were very popular during the Georgian era and are highly collectable today.

Inside the Garnet halo there is a glass casing containing fine plaited hair. Hair was often using in jewellery during the Georgian and Victorian pieces as a way of remembering the loss of a loved one.

The Garnet’s have a lovely play of colour, deep velvet red with flashes of bright red and fiery orange shining through. Garnet is the birthstone for January and the stone that celebrates the 2nd anniversary of marriage.

This is a stunning piece which would make a great addition to any collection.
