This stunning Antique Old Cut Paste Crescent brooch dates to the late Victorian period, modelled in Sterling Silver.
Star and Moon images such as crescents became popular during the 19th Century as an interest in astronomy grew. They were used in jewellery to symbolise guidance and to help lead you in the direction you are meant to go.
Paste is a special type of hand cut glass which has been used since the 18th century to replicate gemstones.
This beautiful brooch would make a great addition to any collection.
Measures 2.8cm x 2.7cm
Some of the Paste stones have darkened with age.
Two of the tiny stones look to be replacements.
