Wow! This is the largest crescent brooch we've ever had, and it looks stunning! Featuring many old-cut black dot paste stones in different sizes, the piece likely started life as a shoe buckle. However, it has been fitted with a gold-plated frame on the reverse, bringing the crescent back to life and allowing it to be worn for many more years to come.

In the early to mid-eighteenth century, paste stones began to feature a black dot in the centre to imitate the culets of old-cut diamonds.

This is a high-quality collectable brooch that would make a great addition to any collection.
