This heavy Albert Chain features curb links, a T-bar, a medal, a bolt ring and dog clip fastening, measuring a wearable length of 16" and modelled in sterling silver.

This chain is hallmarked with the Lion mark on every link. It weighs an impressive 120.13 grams, and the dog clip, t-bar, and jump ring are all original to the chain dating Birmingham, 1911.

It also features a huge medal pendant that has been added, which is dated to Birmingham, 1898.

An Albert chain is a decorative chain initially used to attach a pocket watch to the wearer's clothing. The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach a pocket watch or fob, and the T-Bar would go through the buttonhole of a waistcoat to secure it in place.

Today, these are worn as necklaces, and the clips can be used to hang pendants or charms.

This is a quality example of an Albert chain, which would make a great addition to any collection.
