Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Know What My Wedding Ring Size Is?

There are a few reliable ways to find your exact ring size:

  • Visit a local jeweller – this is the most accurate method and usually free.
  • Measure an existing ring – use a ring you already wear on the same finger and compare it to our size chart
  • Use string or ribbon – wrap it around the base of your finger, mark where it meets, and measure the length against a conversion guide.

Do Gold Wedding Bands Tarnish?

Pure gold (24ct) does not tarnish, but wedding bands can be made from 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold, which are mixed with other metals for strength. Over time, these alloys can develop a slight patina, but this is natural, minimal, and easily polished. With regular gentle cleaning, your vintage gold wedding band will keep its shine for years to come.

How Do I Choose My Wedding Ring?

Choosing your wedding ring is a personal decision, but you can make the process easier by considering:

  • Metal type: gold, white gold, platinum or silver.
  • Band style: plain, engraved, textured or diamond-set.
  • How it complements your engagement ring: matching metal and height helps the two sit together comfortably.
  • Budget: choose the best quality metal your budget allows for long-term durability.

How to Care for My Gold Wedding Band?

Antique gold wedding bands are durable, but proper care will keep them looking their best:

  • Remove your ring for gym workouts, heavy lifting or swimming.
  • Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes and harsh chemicals.
  • Clean regularly with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth.
  • Store in a lined jewellery box when not wearing it.
  • Consider occasional professional cleaning for extra shine.

What if the Ring I Order Doesn’t Fit?

We resize rings at a fee of £45 (resizing of 3 sizes or more may be subject to an additional cost). Please get in touch with our team for any resizing requests.

If you simply want to return or exchange the ring you’ve ordered, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your ring and we’ll be able to issue a refund.

Should I Choose a Gold, White Gold, or Platinum Wedding Ring?

We find that most people already have a preferred metal, so they typically choose a wedding band that matches what they usually wear. However, some people like to mix metals or prefer to match the metal of their partner’s ring.

Gold is often the preferred choice due to its durability and long-term value, but white gold and platinum are wonderful alternatives if you prefer their colour, finish, or feel.
