Typically, vintage and antique necklaces are made from silver or gold. Platinum is used more recently in jewellery, so these pieces tend to be newer. The types of gold used for vintage necklaces depend, ranging from 9ct up to higher quantities like 15ct.

This depends on the material. Silvers like sterling silver do have the tendency to tarnish over time, so we recommend taking your necklace off when showering, swimming, or whilst sleeping. Gold products can develop a tarnish known as a patina, but this is often highly desirable in vintage pieces.
