The chain also features a medal pendant that was later added and is dated to Birmingham, 1936-37. This is also engraved ' B.G.League H Hamilton 1936-37''.
An Albert chain is a decorative chain initially used to attach a pocket watch to the wearer's clothing. The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach a pocket watch or fob, and the T-Bar would go through the buttonhole of a waistcoat to secure it in place.
Today, these are worn as necklaces, and the clips can be used to hang pendants or charms.
This is a quality example of an Albert chain, which would make a great addition to any collection.
