This super rare vintage ring features three interlocking bands in a puzzle shape at the back, which display a pair of clasped hands that open to reveal a love heart motif, crafted in 9ct gold.
Fede rings, originating in ancient Roman times, feature clasped hands symbolising loyalty, trust, and unity. Popular in medieval Europe as betrothal or wedding rings, their name comes from the Italian "mani in fede" (hands in faith). In addition to the clasped fede ring, this ring is also a gimmel ring. Coming from the Latin for twin, gemmelus, the ring was constructed to be worn separately by fiancées during the engagement period and then joined together to form one band for the wedding. This lovely ring has three separate pieces, as the two hands hide the third band, a romantic heart.
This ring which is fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1996, would make a great addition to any collection or the perfect Vintage gift.
