An antique guard chain is a long Victorian chain originally worn to secure items like keys or pocket watches. These chains come in varying chain lengths, so you can wear them as a long, draping necklace oras a layering piece.

An Albert chain is a traditional watch chain named after Prince Albert, who made the style popular in the 19thcentury. Typically featuring solid curb links, a T-bar, and a clasp for attaching a pocket watch or fob, Albert chains were originally a staple of gentlemen’s attire. Today, they are often repurposed as necklaces, worn either as a standalone statementpieceor stacked with other pieces of jewellery.

The ideal length depends on the preference of the wearer. Shorter chains of around 12 inches to 25 inches have a more close-cut look,whereasthose 40 inches or above can often be wrapped around the neck several times for a tiered look.
